Simonfay Borkúria

The Tokaj wine region is one of the most famous wine regions and the only closed- wine- region of our country. One of the world’s most unique dessert wine is the Tokaj aszú wine, an “Ausbruchwein” (an Austrian wine term literary meaning: break-out wine), a wine from selected fully ripe grapes, which is produced in this region.

Solely white wine is produced in this region. However, the emphasis is no longer put on the production of dessert wine but also on the production of dry wine.

The Simonfay wine cellar was founded by Dr. Géza Simonfay in 2004. Since then the winery has been expanded and further developed by his family. The first Hárslevelű (a Hungarian grape variety from the Pontian Balcanica branch of Vitis vinifera) bottled wine was produced in 2006. The renovation works of the Simonfay wine cellar and the construction of the grape-processing plant were launched in 2009 and completed by 2012.
The wine shop in Budapest was opened in November 2009.
